“Those who are the happiest are those who do the most for others.” – Booker T. Washington.

When it comes to promoting the restaurant, we often talk about the beautiful waterfront views and the food, both of which are great, but what really makes Bon Appétit restaurant special is her people.

Our people, servers, cooks, the whole crew show up and genuinely care about their customers and the community they serve. Their caring spirits extend beyond the restaurant in many ways supporting local charities such as Dunedin Cares Food Pantry, Inc., Dunedin Youth Guild, Dunedin Fire Rescue, Habitat for Humanity, and many others over the years.

This year, our company ‘heart’ grew even larger when Debbie Diehl joined our front-end management team. Upon meeting Debbie, there is no denying her thoughtfulness and warmth. Thoughtfulness and warmth, characteristics harmonious with compassion and giving; it is no surprise then, Debbie is actively involved in the Dunedin community and supports local charities throughout the greater Tampa Bay area.

During the holiday season, Debbie partners up with the Marine Corps League in Largo, Florida, to collect and donate children’s bikes. The Marine Corps League is a veterans organization whose members support charities such as Toys for Tots. In addition to toys, the organization also collects bikes for Children ages 5 to 12.

Childs bicycles in front of Christmas tree at Bon Appetit Restaurant in Dunedin, FL

Last Christmas, The Marine Corps League garnered Debbie’s support for the cause, hoping she would help them raise enough to donate six children bikes. The deadline, Christmas, was a week away, but Debbie was confident she could meet her goal. What happened next? Well, the magic of Christmas set in because, in that short time, Debbie raised enough to donate 16 bikes!

The excitement and joy of giving back, especially to children, continue to carry on into this year, where generosity is needed more than ever. Realizing her success in 2019, Debbie increased her goal to 20 bikes for 2020. And she is well on her way to reaching it. One local businesswoman donated five bikes. And a check of $250 made its way across the Atlantic from Belgium to support the cause! Here at Bon Appétit, our team has stepped up to the challenge, from servers to ownership; all have pitched in help Debbie reach her goal.

With one week left to Christmas, Debbie is currently on track to meet her goal. But if you would like to participate in this great cause, Debbie will be accepting donations until Christmas Eve at the restaurant.
