[Updated: October 2017]  New Hours – Happy Hour is available from 11:30 AM – 6 PM, 7 days a week (excluding holidays)

Imagine it’s 1965…

Imagine the year is 1965 and it’s finally 5 pm. As you begin to gather your belongings to leave work for the day, your co-worker asks, “See you at happy hour?” The answer is almost always, yeah!…

It used to be pretty common to stop in at the bar before heading home but fast-forward into the mid-1970s and the dynamics that once made happy hour a common post-work practice started to change. Happy Hour was on the decline, but why? Perhaps it was due to the changing work environment (probably), the economy (maybe) or changes in state liquor laws (in some states, definitely)…

Fun Fact: Massachusetts was the first to ban happy hour back in 1984, but today a Boston based group is currently fighting to bring the experience back. Other states like Vermont, Utah, North Carolina and Rhode Island still have bans against traditional happy hour (designated times where alcohol is served at a discount) and looks like they will continue for a while.

Everything old is new again…

For whatever reason, the happy hour trend continued to fade, until recently that is…

With a new generation entering the workforce, happy hour is back on the rise but not always in the traditional sense. Especially in larger metropolitan areas, bars, restaurants and breweries are getting creative. For example, here in the greater Tampa Bay area, The Brew Bus located in Seminole Heights offers the first beer for free on Mondays to those who live within the Seminole Heights zip codes. Or in NYC, it’s common for companies to host catered roof-top parties for their employees on a Friday night. And in L.A., restaurants and bars are going with late-night happy hour specials in hopes of grabbing additional business after 10pm.

Nobody does it better…

Of course, here in Dunedin, we play a little differently. Being a small coastal town, with a lively multi-generational community that attracts its fair share of seasonal guests, we like to enjoy our days as much as our nights.

Which is why you’ll find different happy hour options all around town, including ours at Bon Appétit Restaurant & Waterfront Bar. From 3-7 pm, every day, 7 days a week (excluding holidays), our happy hour specials are available throughout the restaurant, on the terrace and at both our indoor and outdoor bars.

Bon Appetit Outdoor Bar

Getting the Outdoor Bar ready for Happy Hour!

Similar to a typical happy hour, Bon Appétit features draft beers, house wines and well drinks. But unlike many other establishments, our happy hour also features our delicious Bloody Marys and homemade Sangria. Plus our personal favorite, the margarita, made with freshly squeezed juices.

And just in case you get a little hungry, we’ve got you covered with our delicious happy hour bites. Bites are available 7 days a week from 3 to 6 pm (excluding holidays).

Whether you’re just visiting our delightful town or happen to be lucky enough to reside here, we hope you’ll help us show NYC, LA and even Tampa, what’s up by bringing back the happy hour fun here in Dunedin. Because if nothing else, our award-winning picturesque waterfront views make it totally worth it!
